Community Guidelines & Code of Conduct
We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of sex, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnic origin, colour, ancestry, family status, marital status, socioeconomic status, creed, or religion. All participants, speakers, guests, sponsors, and volunteers are expected to comply with this BAO Community Code of Conduct to ensure a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for all in attendance.
We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form. Event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event, without a refund if applicable, at the discretion of BAO and the event organizers. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, unwanted photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. Guests, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, or similar activities are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event (with no refund if applicable). If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a staff member immediately, either on Zoom, at the event, or via email at BAO@brampton.ca or you can DM (Direct Message) us on our @baobrampton on Instagram or Twitter.
The Brampton Arts Organization and the City of Brampton reserve the right to assess and manage circumstances and situations in the best interest of the public. Explicit or implicit harassment, discrimination, or violence will not be tolerated on City of Brampton property.

To ensure discussions remain respectful and constructive, we’ve established the following guidelines, and by interacting with us and our social media community, you agree to comply with the guidelines below. Failure to abide by these guidelines may result in removal of a user’s comment(s) and/or access to the Brampton Arts Organization social media accounts.
The views expressed on the Brampton Arts Organization social media channels do not reflect the beliefs, views and opinions of BAO, its Board or employees. BAO is not responsible for comments or content posted by its followers and disclaims any liability that may arise from followers’ content.
Be respectful
We reserve the right to monitor, edit, hide or remove comments or content that:
- is off-topic, misleading, deceptive, propaganda, solicitation (whether political, professional or commercial), or advertising (spam);
- is hateful, malicious, discriminatory, inflammatory or harmful toward others;
- is racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic or denigrates someone’s ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or religious identity;
- reveals personal or confidential information about someone other than the poster;
- is repeated and persistent;
- is illegal or contains false information intended to incite illegal, violent, hateful or harmful actions or behaviour;
- is obscene, indecent, vulgar, sexually explicit, profane, abusive, aggressive, violent, threatening, or abusive; or
- targets a BAO employee, Board member or anyone working with BAO in a professional capacity.
Anyone who does not follow these guidelines may be blocked or banned from further engaging with our social media platforms. The pervasive, persistent and/or repeated posting of derogatory and/or of offensive content or commentary will lead to the involvement of law enforcement and may trigger legal action.
Stay on topic
We encourage focused, thoughtful comments and discussions in response to BAO’s posts, projects and initiatives. Comments which are not related to our content or attempt to derail the conversation may be removed.
Identity and brand theft
The Brampton Arts Organization will take all legal measures necessary to put an end to any social media account that falsely identifies itself as BAO.
Photos and videos
If you share the Brampton Arts Organization photos or videos, please take steps to ensure that you also receive copyright permission from the appropriate person(s). BAO is not legally liable for any copyright violations committed by its followers and reserves the right to delete any content without notice.
Zero spam policy
Messages or comments that appear to be spam, or promote a business or organization for commercial gain, may also be hidden, reported and/or deleted at our discretion.
Third Party Sites
Your interaction with us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube are subject to the privacy policies of these third party service providers. These social media websites collect, store, and manage your personal information any time you use their respective platforms. More information about Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube privacy policies may be found at their websites. Please note that BAO has no control over how these third-party service providers use your personal information.
Personal information
Our social media accounts are publicly accessible, and posts are visible to the public. For your own protection, please do not post any personal information about you or anyone else (including email addresses, mailing addresses and telephone numbers). If you post your personal information to our social media accounts in a public way, we may delete the post.
Updates
The Brampton Arts Organization reserves the right to update these Social Media Community Guidelines at any time, entirely at its discretion and without notice.
