Brampton Arts Organization (BAO)’s Newcomer Creative Exchange program is for newcomer artists, creatives, or cultural workers looking to continue their arts and culture careers in Canada. The program creates a space for these Brampton-based newcomers to gather, network, create, and learn together in a welcoming and supportive environment.

For our third Newcomer Creative Exchange session, please join us for an evening of open mic performances in a supportive community environment. Local artists Mehakdeep Gill and Sunny Deewana from Laal Button will be our co-hosts for the evening.

This open mic will be a supportive outlet for any kind of performance you would like to share. Comedy, dance, poetry, song, music, magic, spoken word, a theatrical monologue or any other kind of performance, all are welcome and encouraged.

If you would like to perform:

  • Sign up to perform is on a first come, first serve basis (no exceptions).
  • We recommend arriving 10 minutes in advance and no earlier than 15 minutes in advance of the event start time.
  • Newcomers can sign up for one 5 minute time slot to begin. If additional spots become available, we will announce them.
  • All visitors, artists/performers, and guests must adhere to BAO’s Code of Conduct and Community Guidelines. Please read through our guidelines HERE. Content with explicit use of alcohol, smoking, illegal drugs, horror, offensive language, nudity, explicit sexual activity and/or violence is not permitted.

This session and all Newcomer Creative Exchange sessions are free for Brampton residents.
