Brampton Arts Organization (BAO)’s Newcomer Creative Exchange program is for newcomer artists, creatives, or cultural workers looking to continue their arts and culture careers in Canada. The program creates a space for these Brampton-based newcomers to gather, network, create, and learn together in a welcoming and supportive environment.

For our fourth Newcomer Creative Exchange session, Work in Culture will be giving us a tour of 401 Richmond. 401 Richmond Street West is a restored, heritage-designated, industrial building turned arts-and-culture hub in downtown Toronto. 401 Richmond is home to 17 art galleries and artist-run centres, 40+ visual artist studios, film festivals, filmmakers, architects, communications specialists, graphic artists, recording studios, charitable organizations, cultural producers, social innovators, micro-enterprises, shops and even a Spanish dance school.

Work in Culture (WIC) is a non-profit arts service organization that has been serving the cultural sector since 1998. Our mission is to advance the careers of artists, creatives, and cultural workers from diverse lived experiences, and support the organizations that engage them, through entrepreneurial and business skills development and innovative research. We serve a dynamic and wide-ranging arts and culture sector that embraces many disciplines and industries. We serve as a platform for opportunities through our popular arts and culture Job Board – with over 1,700 jobs posted every year.

We will get a tour from Work in Culture of the art galleries and and learn about all the resources and opportunities available to creatives.

This session and all Newcomer Creative Exchange sessions are free for Brampton residents.
