BAO and Music Ontario present this free webinar for independent musical artists looking to attend music industry showcases, conferences, and festivals.

Attending and performing at music industry events can mean reaching new audiences and key industry decision makers like DJ’s, Managers, Agents, Labels, Performers’ Rights Organizations, Funders, Music Supervisors, and more. Artists also benefit from the professional development opportunities at these events, such as panels, workshops, and round-table discussions.

In this workshop, you will learn how to shift your mindset from artist to entrepreneur, along with the where, when, and how to apply for these kinds of performance opportunities.

Additionally, we’ll break down the real costs, budgeting strategies, funding options, and how to maximize your experience before, during, and after these industry events.

Take your career from local to national and international through music industry showcases, conferences, and festivals by starting with this webinar.

Savannah “TAYOW” Taylor is a Trinidadian-Canadian interdisciplinary artist, actress, event producer, and marketing specialist. Under the moniker TAYOW, she blends Afro-diasporic genres with powerful storytelling, crafting music with integrity and self-awareness. Her latest single, “Democrazy” (released Jan 31), draws from Trinidadian calypso’s rich storytelling tradition, offering a sharp critique of societal systems. With pulsating horns and infectious drum rhythms, the track is both a celebration and a call to action, posing the question: Democracy? Or Dem Mo Crazy?

Beyond music, TAYOW is a dedicated community organizer. She is Music Ontario’s Program Coordinator, the founder of Nina’s Daughters (amplifying Black women musicians in the GTA), and Executive Director of Chow Nation, which oversees Toronto Chowfest, a festival celebrating Trinbago culture through music, food, and “liming”.

Arts and culture are the heart of our communities and boost the local economy. Supporting the arts is more than just nice—it drives business, fosters creativity, and brings people together. Advocacy ensures the arts stay vibrant, leading to increased funding, better policies, and more opportunities for artists, cultural organizations, and creative businesses in Brampton.
