Brampton Arts Organization (BAO) Launches Low-Cost Artist Studios in Downtown Brampton - BAO

The new space offers accessible and affordable studios to Brampton artists and arts & culture organizations

Brampton, ON (November 18, 2025) – The Brampton Arts Organization (BAO), in collaboration with the City of Brampton, is excited to announce the launch of the BAO Studio Rentals pilot project at 8 Nelson Street West in Downtown Brampton. A leading non-profit arts service organization, BAO represents all Brampton artists and arts, culture and creative industries.

BAO Studio Rentals is the first affordable creative meanwhile space project of its kind in Brampton. By utilizing a month-to-month, below-market-rate short-term pricing model, BAO strives to empower Brampton artists, creative entrepreneurs and arts & culture organizations to create their most impactful work, all without having to leave the city.

“I’ve never had a space that was my own where I could focus on my work. BAO has provided me with an affordable and inspiring place where I can not only create but network with other local creatives. This is only the beginning, but I anticipate many great things to come from this space.”

Ricky Lima, Brampton Author and Book Maker

With the launch of this pilot project, along with the second, nine-member cohort of the BAO Studio Residencies, BAO is creating an innovative multi-disciplinary creative destination in the heart of Brampton’s Innovation District. The site, located above the Brampton Transit Terminal and across from the Innovation District GO Station, is accessible to Brampton and GTA residents alike.

Individuals have the option of renting a private studio for $300.00 per month or obtaining a shared studio membership for $75.00 per month. The latter option enables them to access a hot desk and all the facilities, including a bookable private meeting room, shared kitchenette, storage, high speed internet, free parking and communal social space. The project’s initial capacity is 16 private studios and a potential membership of 15-20 shared studio memberships.
