Panels & Committees
At Brampton Arts Organization (BAO), we actively involve the Brampton creative community in helping shape our programs and decisions by working very closely with local artists, arts & cultural workers, and community members. Our Artist Advisory Group helps guide all of our events and initiatives, ensuring they reflect the most pressing needs and diversity of Brampton’s creative scene. Additionally, we invite peer assessors to participate in all of our selection panels to ensure our decisions reflect and are aligned with the community’s values. Through these collaborative efforts, we prioritize meaningful consultation, reduce barriers to participation, and foster a more inclusive and representative Brampton arts & culture ecosystem.
BAO Artist Advisory Group
The BAO Artist Advisory Group is a dedicated group of local Brampton artists and cultural workers that are invited quarterly to advise and guide BAO staff on the development and review of our events and programs, ensuring meaningful consultation and collaboration with the arts community. Artist advisors help identify programming priorities, reduce barriers to participation, and represent BAO within their creative communities!
The group is currently comprised of approximately 15 members, including emerging, mid-career and established artists, arts organizations, and institutional representatives, ensuring a broad diversity in age, gender, race, ability, access and artistic discipline.
BAO Selection Panels: Call for Peer Assessors 2025
The Brampton Arts Organization (BAO) seeks local artists, musicians, writers, performers, arts workers, and community members to serve as peer assessors for our calls to artists and programming on an ongoing basis. Peer assessors are responsible for reviewing and evaluating artist applications, programming proposals, and making recommendations to BAO.
Assessment committees are made up of individuals from all backgrounds, artistic disciplines, and lived experiences.
Previous experience as a peer assessor is not required. Assessors receive support and mentorship from BAO staff and we welcome nominations from all individuals who see themselves as members of Brampton’s arts, culture and community.
BAO provides an honorarium to all peer assessors as a gift to recognize the time and labour involved in doing this work. The honorarium will be provided to assessors after the reviewing process is completed. Honorarium rates vary depending on the program requirements and the work involved in the review process.
If you would like to be considered for a role as a peer assessor, please complete the nomination form. You may also submit a nomination form for someone else, however you must certify that the individual has agreed to be nominated.
