The first 30 minutes of each session will be focused on the drop-in theme. For the second half of the session, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, review past or upcoming grant proposals you’ve written and receive guidance from the facilitator.

This drop-in series will cover the following topics:

  • How the landscape of arts granting works in Canada locally, provincially, and nationally and the similarities and differences in what they fund and in their application process.
  • Tips, models, strategies and practices for proactive and care-centered grant writing, including tips on time management, accessing available support, peer review, navigating online grant systems, and models for engaging in the application process in a healthy way.
  • Learn the main components to successful grant-writing, such as supplementary materials, speaking to the grant officer, budgets, and more.
  • An overview of specific development and mentorship grants that support artists, including an overview of specific grants to support emerging artists.
  • Review key questions found in many applications across the different councils and considerations/best practices for responding to them.
