Lucy Manniapik is a self-taught contemporary artist. She started doing acrylic paintings five years ago. Her inspiration came from watching her older brother create beautiful oil paintings.

My work is inspired by my Inuit culture. I paint polar bears, wolves, or any animals, landscapes, people (family), amauti (an outfit used by Inuit women to carry their babies in the pouch), ulu (inuk woman’s knife that is used to prepare sealskins and cut meat) and anything else that I feel will be fun to work on.
