Jessica McKenzie is a member of Opaskwayak Cree Nation from The Pas, Manitoba. She is part of the first generation within her family that did not have to attend residential school. FutureKokum is a brand that specializes in designing handmade products using traditional beading methods. FutureKokum was created to donate a portion of our proceeds to Indigenous charities to better First Nations communities.
FutureKokum is Cree for future grandmother, which describes my hope with my beadwork, to continue teaching future generations about Indigenous art. As a member of the Opaswayak Cree Nation, I am proud to share my designs with individuals across many nations.
