Chris Mitchell is a Mi’kmaw artist originally from Halifax, NS. Chris’s artwork is often inspired by his Mi’kmaw culture and his Canadian upbringing.
As an Indigenous artist in this country I try to incorporate my culture into my work as much as possible. I believe it is important to celebrate the Indigenous people here as well as to bring awareness to their history. By making simple, yet appealing art, it’s a great way to start a conversation and get people interested.

This piece of art is based off of traditional Mi’kmaq floral beadwork. It is extremely rare to see today so I try to make art or beadwork featuring this style to bring awareness to the style.
