BAO’s Recommended Payment Schedule

Art is work, and artists and creatives deserve fair compensation for their expertise, time and labour.

With this statement, we publicly disclose what BAO pays artists for the work they do. Such work includes performances, workshops, showcases, screenings, exhibitions and other presentations, use of artwork and any other services that artists provide.

All amounts listed are in Canadian dollars (CAD). In certain instances, exceptions to these guidelines may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

1. Exhibition and Presentation Payment (for example PIXEL: Digital Art Exhibition)

$371.00 CAD – Per exhibition or presentation.

2. Media Arts and Film Screening Payment

$250.00 CAD – Film Screening that is 5-15 minutes in length.

$360.00 CAD – Film Screening that is 15-30 minutes in length.

3. Music and Dance Performance Payment (includes rehearsal & other related activities)

Music:
$500.00 CAD – Track artist, solo or duo.
$750.00 CAD – Band with three or more members.

DJ-ing:
$500.00 CAD – Flat rate for up to 4 hours.

Dance:
$300.00 CAD – Performance up to 30 minutes.

4. Workshop and Facilitator Payment (includes preparation & other related activities)

$400.00 CAD – Online presentation and/or lecture.

$500.00 CAD – In-person workshop.

$728.00 CAD – Flat rate per day (over 4 hrs).

Mileage if required: $0.06 per km travelled.

5. Selection Panels, Consultations and Focus Group Payment

Selection Panel Payment:
$376.00 CAD – Half-day under 4 hours.
$664.00 CAD – Flat rate per day (over 4 hours).

Consultation and Focus Group Payment:
$50.00 CAD – Up to 30 minutes.
$100.00 CAD – 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Honoraria for Indigenous Advisors (e.g. Welcoming Ceremony):
$200.00 CAD – Per hour of consultation.
$500.00 CAD – For a half-day event.
$800.00 CAD – For a full day event.

The artist will retain all rights, title, and interest, including moral rights, to the submitted work. The artist will provide Brampton Arts Organization a broad irrevocable, paid-up, royalty-free, and otherwise cost-free license to use, publish, reproduce, adapt, exhibit, copy, and create derivative works from the submitted works, including the right to modify the size of the work submitted with respect to the particular opportunity it was submitted for.
